New camera, new problems…

On Sat 31st July 2010 I finally got to take my new camera (Nikon D700) and housing down with me. It was a beautiful day, and what struck me the most was that I was able to take photos with no flash in just the ambient light at 15m on 200 ISO. This seemed very different from my experiences with my NIKON D200 which from the very start using the Sigma 50mm F2.8 prime lens seemed very dark. I have read recently that an FX lens will loose a couple of F-Stops on a DX format camera but had no idea it would be so profound a difference.

The 4 photos here I took from the collection of 62 photos I took on the first 2 dives, before the camera/card gave up only showing “Change Card” error at 61 images, they are unaltered/uncropped with the exception of DSC_5584 which has had the exposure changed after export by -0.7EV.

Amusing aside… “Change Card” at 14m in salt water… “yeah right!”
